I believe everyone deserves extra encouragement while giving birth, from the laboring person and the partner, to the family sitting quietly in the corner. I am here for everyone, and want to help you usher in this incredibly special time together. As your doula, I do not take the place of anyone, especially the partner, and work with the family to create a safe and oxytocin-filled bubble in your birth space to help bring your baby into the world.
As your doula, I am here to encourage your strength and stamina while making sure you’re staying hydrated and fed. I’m also here to listen to whatever you need to say and encourage you to advocate for yourself, and will do this with a good dose of humor should the situation call for it. This is YOUR birth! I can also help with comfort and birth positions such as acupressure, hip squeezes as well as a possible hand and/or foot massage. Most importantly, my job is to hold space for you while your family is changing and growing, and will focus on making sure your needs are met while you journey to become new versions of yourselves.
A little background about me:
I began my doula journey in 2016 and studied as a postpartum doula at Birthingway Midwifery College, but it wasn’t until I was asked to serve as a birth doula for a dear friend that I really found my wings and began helping families as a CAPPA-certified Birth Doula. I participated in an internship with Mother Tree Doula Services in 2020 right as the pandemic hit! I also work with Birth First Doulas as a birth doula and childbirth educator, as well as a contracted doula with Legacy Hospital as a Traditional Health Care Worker working with OHP clients. I, also, teach Childbirth Education through Providence Health Systems, so you may catch me teaching your class if you're signed up for one!
When I’m not thinking about birth, I work at a local Portland hospital as a clinical scheduler for the OB/GYN department. When not working, I love to cuddle up with my feisty dog, Brisket, and watch a good movie. You’ll probably catch me thinking about my next tattoo, at a Portland Thorns soccer game, or working on training my dog. I am passionate about romance novels, bad television, Tik Tok animals, and hanging out at home. I can be what some people consider to be a decent home cook but an exceedingly bad baker which is why I’d rather eat at a local Portland restaurant. If that all sounds good to you, reach out!
